Read Easy Coordinators are central to the running of each Read Easy group. Despite not being a formal member of the Management Team, a Coordinator will often have the most rewarding but also the most time-consuming role in their local group. A Coordinator is the person who takes charge of enrolling adults who want to learn to read, so you will also interview volunteer Reading Coaches and pair them with new Readers, providing ongoing support and oversight throughout the reading journey. To be suitable for this demanding but most rewarding voluntary position, you must have strong people- and organisational skills, and at least the equivalent of two days per week to spare.
This is what one writes about her experience:
“I have found being a coordinator for Read Easy to be a rewarding way to enrich my life and help others improve theirs. A privilege to work with so many wonderful volunteers who selflessly give their time to enable adults who struggle to read develop skills that can improve and enhance most areas of their lives.”
