Learning to read builds self-esteem

The process of learning to read and improving your reading skills has a power far greater than understanding the words on a page.

The experiences shared by our Read Easy reading coaches clearly illustrate the difference that learning to read makes to many different aspects of their reader’s lives. Sometimes slowly, but often surely, the coaches notice an increased self-confidence and self-belief emerging. With every weekly reading session, this is nurtured and encouraged through the practice of reading.

For anyone who has experienced domestic violence, the difference can be especially dramatic, as the reader learns to navigate a new world of opportunity that learning to read brings to them.

They are no longer dependent on an abusive partner to explain the myriad of written materials that the modern world requires us all to understand. This is tremendously empowering and provides new choices about how they lead their lives,  which can greatly improve the lives and life chances of those that have children too.
