"Reading is absolutely integral to a functioning existence. This charity gets people reading - it transforms their lives!"

Richard Madeley TV Presenter

By helping adults learn to read we:

  • Enable parents to read stories to their children and support their education
  • Improve their employment opportunities and allow some to take the first steps out of poverty
  • Make everyday living – from reading road signs to paying bills – a lot less challenging
  • Help reduce feelings of isolation, loneliness and low self-esteem
  • Give them the confidence to take a more active part in their communities

Pioneer a new Read Easy group

Read Easy UK is only successful because of the help of our amazing volunteers. We want to reach more adults across the country who can’t read, but we need your help to do this. We’re looking for Pioneers to start up new groups.
You can find more information on our Pioneer page.

‘Say, “Yes” … and learn how to do it later’.

If you are passionate about improving people’s lives in your community and enjoy meeting new people, I recommend you say, ‘Yes’, and learn how to do it later. Read Easy UK will tell you how, plenty of us have done it before and, without Pioneers, so many adults will continue to struggle to read. It’s honestly been one of the most interesting and rewarding things I have ever done.

Rachel – Read Easy Preston Pioneer

“It’s been a life changing experience. Last week I read a book to my grandson – I never read to my children because I couldn’t.”
