The Autumn has arrived with a blustery flourish and the wonderful burnished colours of changing woodlands have returned. It is a busy time for the Read Easy groups as they start to look back at the success and ongoing progress of their readers for the end of year reports, which gather together vital statistics on numbers of readers, coaches and committee member volunteers. We are hugely grateful for the immense amount of hard work which is carried out by our 20 existing groups around Central and West England and hope to publish the results of these reviews in late Autumn.
In addition to our Pioneer group in Milton Keynes, we are delighted to announce a new Pioneer group in North Taunton, which is currently being organised by Catherine Berry. If you know of prospective readers, coaches and / or volunteers in this area, do get in touch with her – full details can be found on the website under ‘Find your nearest group’.
Our autumn conference on 17 October has already attracted a good number of applications from coaches and committee members and promises to be a stimulating day, with a number of interesting workshops to take part in. We are delighted that Dr Anna Pitt, Chartered Psychologist with the Dyslexia Research Trust, can attend as our guest speaker for the day. She will speak about the background to Dyslexia and useful strategies to employ when working with adult readers who have Dyslexia. If you are a Coach or existing volunteer with Read Easy and have not yet booked a place, please get in touch with Judith this month – we would love to see you there.
If you are currently working with readers at whatever stage of their reading journey and have some good news to report, please get in touch and let us know – it’s great to share and is so encouraging for others too. Judith will be putting together the autumn newsletter in mid October, so if you can send her the story over, with some photos too if possible, it would be greatly appreciated.
