Alfie has been studying with his Reading Coach Jenny and making huge strides in both his reading and writing skills. He has just finished book three of the phonics-based reading resource, Turning Pages, and progressing fast with the next book in the series.
Improving his reading has also inspired Alfie to write his own book about a young boy called Ted. This fun-filled character comes to life in adventures such as a trip to the seaside, where he meets a friend called Colin ‘and they hunted for shells and smelly seaweed’. In another chapter, Ted visits the farm owned by Colin’s Dad and watches him milk a cow. ‘When they got home they had an egg and bacon omelette for tea’. Alfie writes a chapter about Ted’s trip to watch the Cambridge United Football Club play against Stevenage – and win: ‘The match was thrilling. The final score was five nil. Ted and his Dad cheered and cheered and bought a pizza on the way home’.
It is so encouraging how improving his reading skills has led Alfie to start a new chapter in his life as a budding author!
