James from our Exeter group shares his Reader story with us…
What made you want to learn to read?
To help me understand written words, menus and help me progress with my job.
How did you find Read Easy?
Through my mother-in-law.
How do you find the time you spend reading – do you enjoy it? How challenging has it been to learn to read for you?
I enjoy it when I’m reading TV menus and when I go online to get information for my hobbies (radio controlled cars). Long words are still a bit challenging. It’s broadened my outlook and this will help me read more.
What has reading helped you to do that you couldn’t do before?
I use online information more. Read road signs easier. Be more confident about reading cooking instructions as my wife has sight problems.
What would you say to someone who would like to learn to read?
Go for it! It’s a good thing I’ve done.
