John had difficulty concentrating at school and was eventually diagnosed with ADHD (attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder). He was concerned that he wouldn’t be able to keep focussed and master literacy skills because of it as an adult. However, regular 30 minute sessions with his Reading Coach, Christine, has been perfect – they are ideal for his learning style. She has supplemented the reading manuals with discussions on relevant topics, which has worked very well.
John has been so keen to set an example to his lovely young family. He has persevered and truly succeeded where school could not accommodate his difficulties. He is now steaming ahead on manual 5 of Turning Pages supported by Christine. His concentration has improved enormously, as has his comprehension.
Christine has given him the task of writing a review and synopsis of the books he will try to read independently, which he will share with other Read Easy Readers.
Read Easy Cambridge is grateful to The Job Centre for introducing John to them and are delighted with the positive outcomes.
