Ema (on the right) is delighted to be able to thank Lesley, her Reading Coach, with Time Credits for volunteering with Read Easy Cambridge. The Time Credits model is very simple: for every hour that an individual contributes to their community or service, they can earn a Time Credit. Read Easy Cambridge is a proud and grateful member of Cambridgeshire Time Credits, as they provide a great way to say thank you to their incredible volunteers who do so much – as Reading Coaches and on the Management Team.
Time Credits can be spent on accessing an hour of activity free of charge and includes: visits to local attractions, theatre or cinema tickets, training courses or leisure opportunities, such as sports club membership, etc. Favourites with volunteers with Read Easy Cambridge include Swimming, Clip ‘n Climb and Football. Some have ventured as far as London and visited The Tower of London and the Photographers’ Gallery in Soho.
Ema had not been able to attend school and missed out on reading with her children, but now she’s well on her way through Book 3 of Turning Pages.
She can now read to her Grandchildren which she greatly enjoys! Ema is also now able to read letters that are addressed to her, without having to ask for help from other people, which is really important.
