There are lots of interesting ways to get involved in a Read Easy group and we often have vacancies, both on our local Management Team and for Reading Coaches.

  • Volunteer Team Leader Needed The Team Leader is a key member of the ReadEasy Leeds management team. You may have prior management experience and or experience of leading in an organisational setting. • This entails Using your leadership skills to guide and support our team of volunteers • Manage meetings and set agendas • Exercise executive responsibility for the team in direction and decision making. • Be a champion and spokesperson for the group and the work of ReadEasy in the local community
  • Volunteer Coordinators Needed Read Easy Leeds help adults learn to read. Change lives. Make a real difference. Do you enjoy supporting people, organising activities, and working as part of a friendly volunteer team? Read Easy Leeds is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to help adults across the city take their first steps into reading with confidence. As a Coordinator, you’ll be the welcoming first point of contact for adults who want to learn to read, helping them feel comfortable and supported during their enrolment. You’ll also meet and interview volunteer applicants who wish to become Reading Coaches, arranging their online training through Read Easy UK. Once reading pairs are formed, you’ll play a key part in cheering them on—visiting coaches and readers during their half-hour sessions in local libraries, offering encouragement and practical support. This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll see people grow in confidence week by week as reading begins to change their lives. What we’re looking for We’d love to hear from you if you: • Have good communication and interpersonal skills • Are comfortable using Microsoft tools (email, Excel, SharePoint, Zoom, etc.) • Write reports on operational progress for Management team meetings • Understand how to record and store personal information safely (GDPR) • Are confident working with adults from all backgrounds • Can work independently and travel between appointments • Are flexible with your time (some reading sessions take place after 5pm)
  • Volunteer Secretary Needed If you’re a rigorous timekeeper and an organised individual, then your administration skills will be vital to support the smooth running of the local Management Team. By supporting other volunteers on the management team The Read Easy Administrator ensures that the group functions at its best and works in the most efficient and effective way to help adults in your community learn to read. • Organising meetings • Taking minutes and maintaining records • managing internal and external communications, • Generally supporting the Team Leader and team members
  • Volunteer Treasurer Needed You will have experience of having oversight of the financial status of accounts • Ensure the accurate recording of the organisation’s income and expenditure • Advise the team on financial aspects of our activities. • Financial reporting
