We are very excited to introduce you to Read Easy’s new Chief Executive, Carla Priddon.

Carla has worked and volunteered in the charity sector for over 20 years for a range of charitable causes, most recently as CEO of a youth charity called The Way Youth Zone in Wolverhampton. Carla has built The Way over the last five years (from 6 months after it started), so that it now has an average of 60,000 visits each year, 50 staff, over 100 volunteers and an income of £1.2 million. We are delighted that she will be bringing her skills and experience to lead and support Read Easy’s next phase of growth.

Carla says, ‘I am very excited to build on the great work achieved so far by Read Easy UK and look forward to working with the extremely dedicated team to continue the charity’s growth and shape the future of adult literacy in the UK’.

For the next six weeks, Carla will be working quietly behind the scenes, getting to know more about how Read Easy works. She will officially take over as Chief Executive on Friday 1st April, following our current Chief Executive, Ginny Williams-Ellis’s retirement.

Paul Mugford, Chair of Read Easy UK Trustees says, ‘We are absolutely delighted that Carla has agreed to join us to build on the exceptionally strong base laid down by Ginny, our founder. The depth of experience that Carla brings will lead us into our expansion programme and strengthen our position as a national voice for adult literacy’.
